General Care

  • Don’t sit on the arms or backrest of the chair.
  • Always lift the chair from the base when moving it—don’t drag it.
  • Use a vacuum with a soft brush to keep dust and dirt from building up.
  • If something spills, blot it gently with a clean cloth. Avoid rubbing, which can damage the material.
  • Let the chair air dry naturally if it gets wet. Stay away from heat sources like hairdryers.
  • Skip harsh cleaners or chemicals—they can cause damage.
Fabric Care
  • Try to keep furniture out of direct sunlight, or use blinds or curtains to reduce exposure.
  • Blot spills as soon as they happen to prevent stains. Again, don’t rub.
  • If you’re using a cleaner, test it on a hidden part of the fabric first to make sure it’s safe.
  • For tougher stains or deep cleaning, it’s best to call in a professional.
Stainless Steel Care
  • Wipe dust and spills with a soft, dry cloth.
  • For dirt, use a damp cloth, then dry it off right away to avoid water spots or damage.
  • You can use stainless steel polish from time to time to help bring back its shine and reduce small scratches.
  • Try to keep it away from constant moisture or humidity.

WARRANTY AGAINST DEFECTS

Email: info@artdesigngallery.com.au

Art Design Gallery provides the voluntary warranty against defects set out below. This warranty is given by Art Design Gallery as the supplier of the goods. It is in addition to, and does not limit, replace or affect, your rights and remedies under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law.

Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

a. What this warranty covers, and for how long

Art Design Gallery warrants that, under normal domestic use, the goods will be free from defects in materials, workmanship or manufacture for the periods below. Each period runs from the date of delivery or collection.

  • Structural components of lounges and sofas (internal and load-bearing frame components) – 3 years
  • Structural components of all other furniture (load-bearing frame components, structural joints, and legs or supports where failure results from a manufacturing or material defect) – 12 months
  • Electronic and motion components (for example recliner mechanisms and adjustable parts) – 12 months
  • Upholstery, foam, fabric, leather and covers, against defects in materials, workmanship or manufacture (as distinct from normal softening, settling and wear described in section c) – 12 months
  • All other furniture items and components12 months

Structural components means the structural frame, load-bearing frame components, structural joints, legs and supports where their failure results from a manufacturing or material defect, and other structural components forming part of the furniture.

This is a warranty against defects in the goods. It is not a guarantee that the goods will not break, wear out or be damaged, and it does not cover damage that is caused after delivery by the matters listed in section b.

Where goods are sold for normal residential or domestic use, this voluntary warranty applies to that use. This voluntary warranty is provided to the person who purchased the goods from Art Design Gallery and is not transferable. This does not limit the rights of any person under the Australian Consumer Law, which may extend to persons other than the original purchaser.

b. What this warranty does not cover

This voluntary warranty does not cover a failure, defect or damage to the extent that the failure, defect or damage was caused by any of the following:

  • misuse or abuse of the goods
  • accidental damage, impact, or dropping the goods
  • dragging the goods improperly instead of lifting them
  • damage occurring while you are moving, relocating or transporting the goods
  • overloading, or exceeding a stated weight capacity
  • jumping or standing on goods that are not designed for that purpose
  • improper use, or use for a purpose the goods were not designed for
  • incorrect assembly by the customer, where that incorrect assembly caused the problem
  • unauthorised alteration or repair, where that alteration or repair caused the problem
  • cuts, burns, tears, scratches or deliberate damage
  • water or liquid damage occurring after delivery
  • use of inappropriate cleaning products or cleaning methods, where they caused the damage
  • failure to follow the care instructions provided, where that failure caused the damage
  • exposure to conditions the goods were not designed for (for example outdoor exposure, extreme heat, or persistent moisture, for goods sold for indoor use)
  • commercial, hire or rental use, where the goods were sold only for normal residential or domestic use
  • normal wear and tear, and the normal characteristics described in section c

Important: these exclusions apply only to the particular failure, defect or damage that was actually caused by the matter listed. Damage caused by you to one part of an item does not remove this warranty, or your Australian Consumer Law rights, in relation to a separate and unrelated defect in another part of the item.

Goods sold as clearance, floor stock, display or “as is” items are sold on the basis of the condition and any faults disclosed to you at the time of sale. This voluntary warranty does not cover a fault that was disclosed to you before you purchased. It does not affect your rights under the Australian Consumer Law in relation to any other failure.

Some goods are sold without this voluntary warranty applying to them, and this is stated on the product page. Marble and natural stone products are one example. Where the voluntary warranty does not apply, your rights under the Australian Consumer Law still apply in full.

c. Normal characteristics, and normal wear

The following are normal characteristics of furniture and of natural materials. They are not, on their own, defects, and they are not covered by this voluntary warranty:

  • reasonable softening of foam and fillings through normal use
  • natural settling of cushions and fillings, and movement in feather, foam or polyester fillings
  • normal fabric wear, creasing, and pressure or seat marks arising from ordinary use
  • normal colour and texture variation in natural materials, including timber grain, stone and marble veining, and leather texture and markings
  • fading or colour change caused by excessive or prolonged exposure to direct sunlight
  • reasonable variation in timber, stone, marble and other natural materials, including between a display item and the item supplied
  • minor surface scratches, scuffs and marks arising from everyday domestic use

A characteristic listed above may still be a defect if it goes beyond what is reasonable for the goods — for example, foam that collapses well beyond normal softening, or a seam that fails in normal use. If you are unsure, contact us and we will assess it.

Nothing in this section excludes, restricts or modifies the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law, including the guarantee that goods are of acceptable quality and durable for a reasonable period.

d. Voluntary warranty periods and the Australian Consumer Law

The warranty periods set out in section a are additional warranties voluntarily provided by Art Design Gallery. The expiry of a voluntary warranty period does not necessarily mean that your rights under the Australian Consumer Law have expired.

Consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law apply for whatever period is reasonable in the circumstances, having regard to matters including the nature, price and expected life of the goods. Depending on the circumstances, that period may be longer than a voluntary warranty period stated above. Repair or replacement of a part under this voluntary warranty does not, by itself, extend or restart the voluntary warranty period, and does not affect your Australian Consumer Law rights.

Nothing in this warranty excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified under the Australian Consumer Law or any other applicable law. Where a manufacturer also provides a warranty, that warranty is in addition to this warranty and does not replace Art Design Gallery’s obligations to you as the supplier.

e. How to make a claim

Contact Art Design Gallery first. Do not send or return goods before contacting us.

Art Design Gallery
1 Argon Circuit, Clyde North VIC 3978, Australia
Phone: 0468 333 267
Email: info@artdesigngallery.com.au

To help us assess your claim quickly, please give us as much of the following as you reasonably can:

  • your order number, receipt or other reasonable proof of purchase
  • a description of the problem
  • photographs or a short video, where these would reasonably help us assess the problem
  • when you first noticed the problem
  • relevant delivery or collection information

We ask for this information so that we can assess a claim properly and quickly. It is a request, not a precondition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. If you cannot supply photographs or video, tell us and we will discuss other ways to assess the goods, such as an inspection. You do not need the original packaging to make a claim, and you do not need to have left the goods unused.

What Art Design Gallery will do

We will acknowledge your claim and let you know what we need in order to assess it. We will assess the goods — by reviewing the information you provide, by inspection, or by referring the goods to the manufacturer or a repair agent where appropriate — and we will tell you the outcome and the remedy we propose. Where a manufacturer or repair agent is involved, timeframes can vary with their availability, and we will keep you informed.

If your claim is accepted under this voluntary warranty, Art Design Gallery will, subject to the terms of this warranty and to applicable law, repair the goods, replace the goods or the affected component, or provide another appropriate remedy.

Where the Australian Consumer Law applies, your statutory remedy is not limited by the preceding paragraph. If there is a major failure with the goods, you may choose a refund or a replacement, and you may also seek compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. If the failure is not a major failure, we may choose to repair the goods, replace them or provide a refund, and we will do so within a reasonable time.

f. Large and bulky furniture

Please contact us before transporting any large or bulky furniture back to us. Do not return large furniture without our authorisation, and do not attempt to move a large item yourself if doing so risks injury or further damage.

Once you contact us, we will agree with you the appropriate next step, which may be an on-site inspection, an in-home or off-site repair, collection by us or by a carrier we arrange, return to an approved location we nominate, replacement, or another appropriate remedy. Where you collected the goods, the return point may be the same collection location unless we tell you otherwise. Our Clyde North warehouse is 2/14 Silvretta Court, Clyde North VIC 3978. For supplier or warehouse-direct goods we will confirm the approved return or collection location.

Costs of a claim, and how to be reimbursed

You do not have to pay to make a claim under this warranty.

Where goods are faulty and a consumer guarantee under the Australian Consumer Law has not been met, and the goods are large, heavy or difficult to remove, Art Design Gallery is responsible for the cost of collecting or returning the goods, and we will arrange or pay for that transport. If we ask you to arrange transport or an inspection for such a claim, or you incur other reasonable expenses because of the failure, we will reimburse your reasonable costs.

To be reimbursed, send your receipt or invoice for the expense to info@artdesigngallery.com.au with your order number. We may ask you to agree the expense with us in advance where it is significant, and we will tell you before you incur it if we consider a cost unreasonable. We will pay approved reimbursements within a reasonable period, to your original payment method where practicable.

If we arrange an inspection and, after assessing the goods, the problem is found to be caused by one of the matters excluded in section b and is not a failure of a consumer guarantee, we may ask you to pay the reasonable cost of that inspection or call-out. We will tell you what that cost would be, and get your agreement, before arranging it. No inspection or call-out fee is payable where the goods have in fact failed to meet a consumer guarantee.

g. Change of mind

This warranty covers defective goods. It is not a change-of-mind returns policy. Art Design Gallery does not accept returns, exchanges, refunds or store credit for change of mind. See the Returns, Refunds & Cancellations Policy for cancellations, change of mind and other returns. Nothing in this warranty or that policy limits rights that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
